Bianca Vargas-Ocasio, M.S.W.
Bianca Vargas-Ocasio joined the Center for Childhood Resilience in 2018. Ms. Vargas is a Licensed Social Worker and has over four years of experience providing mental health supports and interventions to children and adolescents in school and community settings.
Ms. Vargas is involved in multiple projects, namely supporting the work of our School Mental Health Team, providing on-site support and coaching to our school and community partners. Prior to joining CCR, Ms. Vargas worked as a Social Worker for a non-profit organization in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico. She was able to provide individual and group interventions for youth and families with a trauma-informed, arts-integrated approach. She also provided de-escalation and crisis intervention services utilizing Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) strategies. Prior to joining the CCR, Ms. Vargas was a School Mental Health Consultant for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Office of School Health. In that role, she consulted with a caseload of 12 Department of Education schools in Manhattan to develop universal, selective and targeted interventions to support the emotional well-being and mental health of students, families and staff.
Ms. Vargas graduated from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, Metropolitan Campus, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts and a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Direct Services.
